Ingredients
- 1 cup Alt Milk fresh pistachio milk
- 1 tsp ceremonial grade matcha powder
- 2 tbsp hot water (not boiling — around 70°C to 80°C)
- 1 tsp maple syrup or 3 to 4 drops stevia (optional)
- A pinch of vanilla extract (optional)
- Ice cubes (for iced version)
Instructions
- Sift matcha powder into a small bowl or mug to remove any lumps.
- Add hot water and whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until the matcha is fully dissolved and slightly frothy. A bamboo matcha whisk works best but a small regular whisk works too.
- Add maple syrup and vanilla extract if using. Stir to combine.
- For a hot latte — gently warm pistachio milk in a saucepan over low heat until steaming. Do not boil. Froth with a milk frother or whisk until foamy. Pour over the matcha mixture and stir gently.
- For an iced latte — fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour chilled pistachio milk over the ice. Slowly pour the matcha mixture on top and stir just before drinking.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.
Tip: Pistachio milk has a naturally sweet and creamy flavour that balances matcha’s earthy bitterness perfectly — no sweetener needed once you try it. Always use hot water, not boiling, to whisk matcha — boiling water makes matcha taste bitter.
